Indoor Swim Lessons in North Charleston for Fall and Winter

Both of our indoor pools are in North Charleston, which is where lessons carry on once the outdoor season ends.

Plenty of families treat swimming as a summer activity, stop in September and start again in June. The trouble is what happens in between. Skills fade, nerves come back, and the following summer starts further back than the last one finished. Indoor swim lessons are how you avoid that.

Two indoor pools

Both of them in North Charleston

The North Charleston Aquatic Center on Patriot Boulevard and the North Charleston Sports Complex on Monitor Street in Park Circle are both indoor, and both run fall and winter lessons.

Where fall and winter lessons happen

North Charleston Sports Complex, a LowCountry Swim School pool locationNorth Charleston Sports Complex

North Charleston Aquatic Center

8610 Patriot Boulevard, North Charleston. Indoor pool.

North Charleston Sports Complex

1455 Monitor Street, North Charleston (Park Circle). Indoor pool.

Felix Pinckney Pool

4790 Hassel Avenue, North Charleston. Summer lessons. Outdoor, so it is a summer pool.

Home and community pools

Outdoor lessons at your own pool run in the warmer months. Community pool lessons need HOA approval and are for residents.

Why families keep going through the winter

  • Skills built over the summer are kept instead of rebuilt
  • A swimmer who is nervous in the water does not get months to talk themselves back out of it
  • Water safety is a year round risk, not a seasonal one
  • Progress through the levels is steady rather than stop and start

We wrote about the trade-off in more depth in year round vs summer swim lessons, and how often to take swim lessons covers the cadence question.

Who can carry on indoors

Babies and toddlers

Seal & Pup for 6 months to 3 years and Toddler Transition for ages 2 to 3.

Kids

Pre-K for ages 2 to 4 and Big Kid Levels 1 to 5 for ages 5 to 8.

Tweens and teens

Tween to Teen Levels 1 to 5 for ages 8 to 15, and Young Adult for ages 16 to 18.

Adults

Adult classes for 18 and up, including adults who are afraid of the water.

If you are restarting after a break

A swimmer who has been out of the water for a few months is not always at the level they finished on, and that is normal rather than a setback. Why children regress explains what tends to come back quickly and what takes longer. Tell us where your swimmer left off and we will recommend a level.
